Snipping Tool For Mac Clipboard

Active3 months ago

I have found out a very strange behaviour of the Windows snipping tool coming with the latest Windows 10 version: when the snipping tool is exitted, it empties the clipboard, no matter what was inside before. For example, copy a text (Ctrl-C) in an editor, and paste it to test if it is there. Then open the snipping tool, capture an image, and quit the snipping tool. After that, the clipboard is empty.

The built in Snipping tool is quite adequate for most tasks. An excellent more feature rich program is Snagit. Easily captures text, images, videos and has editing features if desired before pasting into Word, clipboard or elsewhere. Apowersoft Mac Screenshot. Apowersoft Mac Screenshot is a powerful screen capturing tool for Mac. Just like other snipping tools for Mac in this list, this app also surpasses the built-in Mac tool for capturing your desktop. 5 ways to open Snipping Tool in Windows 10: Way 1: Turn it on in Start Menu. Get into Start Menu, select All apps, choose Windows Accessories and tap Snipping Tool. Way 2: Open it by searching. Type snip in the search box on taskbar, and click Snipping Tool in the result. Way 3: Turn it on via Run.

If you copy an Image from snipping tool to your clipboard, it will get lost as soon as Snipping tool is quit.

Is that beahviour new? And why does this happen?

I'm running Windows 10 1607 (build 14393.105) and the Snipping Tool does NOT clear the clipboard on close.

Best Snipping Tool For Mac

Based on your explanation of the chain of events, I think I see what's going on.

  1. You copy TEXT to the clipboard.
  2. You then capture something with the Snipping Tool (which, by default automatically copies that IMAGE to the clipboard (replacing the text you copied previously).
  3. You then close the Snipping Tool and expect you can then paste your text, but you cannot, because it's been replaced by an image, which can't be pasted into the area you're trying to paste text. Since you can't paste an IMAGE to a TEXT area, it pastes nothing.

You can test this by opening Paint and the Snipping Tool, snipping an image, then closing the Snipping Tool, and then pasting it into Paint. It should still paste the image, even though the Snipping Tool is closed.

Something that may help:

There is a setting in the Snipping Tool's options entitled 'Always copy snips to the Clipboard':

If you un-check that option, the image won't automatically be copied to the clipboard as soon as you snip it. Instead, you'll have to hit the 'Copy' icon in the Snipping Tool:
